Maui Cookie Lab was founded by Heidi Cramer in 2018, with the goal of going back in time, when food was real, not processed, and hand-crafted. Simple flavors, using the best ingredients with a dash of creativity.
The birth of Maui Cookie Lab came in the form of catering Maui events, many for local non-profits, to test the concept and see if the community wanted more of these well-loved classic cookies. As luck would have it, they screamed YES! So, Heidi was off and running to “Spread the ALOHA and Share Cookies!”
Heidi has a 20 year background in professional baking, which stemmed from a childhood love of home baking with her Mother and Grandmother. She honed her craft at a few notable Maui restaurants, before starting her full-service bakery in Paia, Maui called Cakewalk, in 2001. After years of owning Cakewalk, she sold it and started Maui Sweet Cakes specializing in artisanal cakes for destination weddings and celebrations. Although her cake business was thriving, Heidi felt a pull towards the classic sweets she loved since childhood. So, she created a small line of shortbread cookies and sold them to a few local shops. As the cookie line grew, she phased out cakes to further spread the cookie love. With the Maui Sweet Cakes line of cookies now available at over 60 local Hawaii retailers, she created Maui Cookie Lab to expand her cookie horizons and be able to offer new delicious flavors to those who share her love of an old fashioned, delicious staple we all remember from our childhoods.
